Just the facts: Canada’s Covid-19 Economic Response Plan
Recently the Federal Government announced $52 billion in funding to help Canadians and businesses who are facing hardships as a result of Covid-19 – including a $2,000+ a month benefit to workers directly impacted by the virus.
Details on these new Government funds and programs are being released and updated every day so it’s easy to miss out on new updates or initiatives.
That’s why you’re hearing from us today – we’ve done the hard work by taking pages and pages of information from the Government’s Covid-19 Economic Response Plan, including the daily updates, and breaking it down to the most relevant points for you.
Some of the highlights include:
Creation of the Canada Emergency Relief Benefit (CERB) to provide relief to those who don’t qualify for Employment Insurance
- A lump sum top-up on the Canada Child Benefit – up to $550/month
- 75% wage subsidy for small/medium businesses who have seen revenue drop by 30% due to Covid-19
- Income tax filing dates for individuals extended to June 1, 2020
We’re closely monitoring Government updates to the Economic Response Plan and providing details on our website where you can find information on funds available to individuals and families and for small to medium businesses.
Over the coming days, weeks and months, we’ll continue to notify you when funding application periods open or when new programs are launched. Additionally, we’ve developed some useful tips to help people re-organize their household budgets and spending as part of our new ‘social distancing’ reality… we’ll be sharing those with you as well.
We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. We’ll be in touch once we have more details to share.
