Debt Issues, Who Can You Trust? 4 Pillars Hamilton

By Jim Ferguson

Debt Issues, Who Can You Trust?   4 Pillars Hamilton

Everyone has issues that are plaguing their lives.  Some are dealing with family issues, some are dealing with personal issues, relationship issues, and health issues. However, when you’re dealing with debt issues, who can you trust?  In many respects, you may find your debt issues are at the root of a lot of your other issues.  That is not to say getting rid of the debt will make all of your problems go away, but it will certainly take away some of the pressure and make them easier to deal with.

The biggest issue when it comes to asking for debt help is denial.  You blame yourself for your debt, and you beat yourself up for getting into this situation. Your confidence is low, your self-esteem is shaky, and you are humiliated.  So that last thing you want to do is admit that your debt has become a problem, let alone ask someone for debt help.     So, is there non-judgmental debt help available?  Absolutely.  Just make sure you know who you are asking for help.  Your debt has left you somewhat vulnerable, desperate to get rid of it.  You may only hear what you want to hear while disregarding any red flags that appear during your conversation.  So remember the adage, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.  Accepting debt help from the wrong source could leave you worse off financially than you were when you started.

A reputable Debt Specialist is going to encourage your research and welcome any and all questions without hesitation.   These are some things to remember when looking for debt help:

  • If the debt company is offering you their services for free, ask how they’re getting paid.
  • Ask for references, good and bad.
  • Ask for a detailed explanation of how they work and what exactly they are going to do to help you? (Remember, a successful debt restructuring plan will go beyond just paying off your debt, it should help you create a sustainable budget and provide a comprehensive credit rebuilding program.)
  • Are you greeted with judgement and blame, or genuine compassion and understanding?
  • Are you talking to this expert in person or dealing with a call center?
  • Does it feel like your concerns are being taken seriously with a genuine effort to understand your situation or does it seem like you are just a file number being offered a one size fits all, solution?
  • Are you being heard?

I’m Jim Ferguson, your 4 Pillars Debt Specialist in Hamilton.   When seeking debt help transparency is key.  Without it you don’t have trust.  So listen to what the ‘experts’ tell you, and more importantly listen to what they DON’T tell you.  Your debt situation is as unique. So are your long term financial goals. This all needs to be taken into consideration before any debt structuring strategy is put into place.

Is 4 Pillars Debt Solutions a Scam?

No. Granted, it may seem like we’re too good to be true.  However, over the last 15 years we have created a program to deal with debt; one we believe is the most successful and most comprehensive in Canada.  Yes, we provide a service for which we do charge a fee; but with that fee comes our assurance that we work only for you, not your creditors.  We are not impartial.  We are on YOUR side, representing your best interest with no obligations or duties to your creditors.

4 Pillars Debt Solutions is in a rare position because other companies in the marketplace are either funded by your creditors or have a fiduciary duty to them.  However, we believe that as members of the debt advisory business one either represents the debtor or they represent the creditor.  You can’t do both and be impartial.  If you were taking legal action against another party, would you use the same lawyer? NO.  So how can you expect to be fairly represented by someone who is tied to your creditors?  You can’t.

4 Pillars Debt Solutions has been creating strategies and tools to get Canadians out of debt since 2002.  As a result 97% of our clients have successfully completed their debt restructuring programs and are now experiencing freedom from debt.  With our help they have been able to rebuild their credit, leaving them with a stronger credit score.
