6 Questions to Help Evaluate Debt Consultants (and a Few 4 Pillars Reviews)

By Paul Murphy

Benjy from our 4 Pillars Victoria office posted a helpful article that shows how to evaluate debt consultants. You read that article which includes reviews for 4 Pillars here.

If you live in Victoria, drop by Benjy’s office (pictured below). The address is 2311 Watkiss Way, #103, Victoria, BC, V9B 6J6.  (250) 882-5556

Here are the questions he recommends using to evaluate whether your debt consultant, debt counselor, or credit counselor is a scam:

  • Are they local? Can you go meet them in person? Or are they an online company or a call center? It’s a warning sign if they are a call center or online business with no local office. Can you meet them in your city?
  • How long have they been in business? The bad debt settlement companies will not have a presence in their community and will only have been open for a short time.
  • How many offices do they have? Do they have a national presence? Do they have a brand people trust?
  • How much do they charge? High upfront fees are warning signs.
  • Do they have real reviews? Do they have a good standing with the Better Business Bureau?

Benjy goes into detail for each question in his article. His section on how to evaluate reviews is excellent. You can read the rest here.
